Why Fitbit Keeps Lighting Up At Night? Here’s How To Stop It

While reading forums, I found some users have reported that their Fitbit keeps lighting up at night, even when they are not using it. I never used to think much of it when my Fitbit would light up at night. Later, I figured that it was because I was restless or had been moving around a lot throughout the day.

I wondered why it kept happening, and whether it could be stopped. After doing some research, I found that there are a few things you can do to prevent your Fitbit from lighting up at night.

So if you’re having the same problem, keep reading for some helpful tips!

Fitbit: A Worthy Personal Investment?

A Fitbit is a great device that helps people stay fit and active. It tracks your steps, calories burned, and distance traveled. Also, monitors your heart rate and sleep patterns.

As said, one thing that I found annoying was that the Fitbit kept lighting up at night. It was so bright that it would wake me up, and then I’d have to fumble around in the dark to find the right button to turn it off. But I finally figured out what was causing it, and how to fix the issue.

Common Reasons Why Fitbit Keeps Lighting Up At Night

Light Reflecting on Fitbit Screen

If your Fitbit is near a lamp or another object that is reflecting light, the light may be reflected onto the Fitbit’s screen, causing it to light up.

You Have The Brightness Set To High

If you have the brightness setting on your Fitbit turned up high, it is more likely to light up at night.

You Have Notifications Turned On

Another reason why your Fitbit may be lighting up at night is that you have notifications turned on. Check the settings on your device to see if this is the case, and turn off notifications if you want to stop the light.

The Battery Is Low

If your Fitbit’s battery is getting low, it will often give off a faint light to let you know. This can happen even if you are not using the device, so it is best to keep an eye on the battery level and charge it when required.

The Device Is Faulty

In some rare cases, a Fitbit may start lighting up at night due to a hardware or software problem. If this happens, try resetting the device or contacting customer support for help.

You Are Wearing It Wrong

It is also possible that you are wearing your Fitbit incorrectly, which could cause the light to come on. Make sure that you are wearing it snugly but not too tightly, and that the sensor is in contact with your skin.

It’s Just A Glitch

Sometimes, a Fitbit may randomly light up at night for no apparent reason. This is usually just a glitch that can be fixed by restarting the device or updating the software.

Can Fitbit Lighting Disturb your Sleep At Night?

It’s no secret that getting a good night’s sleep is important for overall health and well-being. But what you may not realize is that the type of light you’re exposed to before bed can impact the quality of your sleep.

Studies have shown that blue light, like the kind emitted by electronic devices, can suppress melatonin production and make it more difficult to fall asleep. And while Fitbits don’t emit blue light, they do produce a bright white light that can be disruptive if you’re trying to sleep.

Therefore, if you tend to wear your Fitbit at night, it might be worth turning off its lights before bed.

How To Stop Fitbit From Lighting Up At Night?

Fitbit lighting up in the middle of the night can be disruptive to your sleep. Fortunately, there are a few things to check before sleeping to prevent your Fitbit from lighting up at night:

  • Adjust the brightness levels in the Fitbit app. You can find this option under the “Display” tab in the settings menu.
  • Turn off notifications for calls, texts, and alarms. This will prevent your Fitbit from lighting up every time you receive a notification.
  • Set a sleep schedule in the app. This will allow your Fitbit to automatically enter sleep mode at the same time each night.
  • Enable Do Not Disturb mode on your Fitbit. This will silence all notifications and prevent your Fitbit from lighting up during specified hours.
  • Manually put your Fitbit into sleep mode before going to bed each night. To do this, simply press and hold the button on your device for three seconds.
  • Disable the LED lights altogether. This can be done through the “Settings” menu in the Fitbit app. Click Here to Know More.
  • Try wearing your Fitbit on your non-dominant hand. For some people, this helps to reduce the incidence of nighttime disruptions caused by the device’s lights.
